Mental Health Crisis Response: Understanding and Supporting LGBTQIA+ Individuals 

Learn about the clinical implications in serving the LGBTQIA+ communities with a specific focus on trauma and relational trauma informed care. This DHS Training is provided by the PRIDE Institute and is organized by the Autism Society of Minnesota.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Anna Hagen, MA, LMFT
She/Her/Hers
Anna Hagen is a mental health therapist at the PRIDE Institute and received her MA from St Mary’s University in Minneapolis. She is EMDR certified in somatic and early childhood trauma and is a MN Board approved supervisor. With a passion for working within the trauma field, Hagen sees the LGBTQIA+ community as being specifically traumatized within our society and believes that informing clients about trauma is critical to their recovery. She works with clients across the country and appreciates their willingness to find their own health and their openness to change.

Troy R Weber-Brown, MS, LMFT
They/Them/Theirs
Troy Weber-Brown is the PRIDE Institute’s clinical supervisor. He received his MS from St. Cloud State University and has served the LGBTQIA+ communities exclusively for 10 years in mental health and addictions environments. Weber-Brown is a member of a formal gender team that has helped more than 500 individuals address their incongruent gender needs physically, emotionally, cognitively, and behaviorally. He has presented locally, state-wide, and nationally on clinical implications in working with gender and sexual diversity. Weber-Brown is a board approved supervisor with the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy and the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy.

The Autism Society of Minnesota (AuSM) is pleased to be collaborating with the Department of Human Services in organizing the DHS Mental Health Crisis Response Workshop Series through 2017. AuSM is our state’s oldest autism organization serving individuals and families affected by autism in Minnesota, and the AuSM event planning team is honored to be working with DHS to bring this important workshop series to you.
