Orton-Gillingham Level I: Associate Level Coursework (January 20-22, February 4-5, March 4-5) 

Register for the Orton-Gillingham Level I: Associate Level Course before the spaces are filled.

The Orton-Gillingham Associate Level course provides participants with instruction in the basics of the Orton Gillingham approach. The Orton-Gillingham Approach is a systematic, multisensory and diagnostic/prescriptive approach to the teaching of the continuum of language skills including reading, spelling, and handwriting. The course includes identifying the characteristics and needs of the dyslexic learner, instruction in the structure of the English language, and knowledge and skill in designing and implementing lessons. It is highly effective for teaching students with dyslexia as well as other individuals who need explicit instruction in the basic skills of language. This course offers the first 45 hours of the 60 hour requirement of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators for certification at the Associate Level. The instructor is a Fellow of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.

Fees: $1,350.00, includes teaching manual and phonogram cards (non-refundable deposit: $300.00)

Optional 3 graduate credits through Fitchburg State University (additional $275 payable through the instructor). Outside research is required for this option.
