The BDC will cover an annual review of our accomplishments from 2014, TIF projects will be recognized and the winner of the George W Ashby Award for Business Excellence will be announced.

Dan Gilbert, Gilbert Brothers Hardware
Franchisee for Sears Appliance and Hardware
 
Dan will share insights about what he and his brothers do to drive their business and increase market share in the context of a franchise with a national model. With expertise in human resources and sales, Dan will discuss hiring practice and how they keep their employees engaged. The presentation will conclude with a discussion around customer service, a phrase spoken about at length but not always consistently understood.

Dan Gilbert, along with brothers Mike and Rick, purchased their first Sears Appliance and Hardware franchise in May 2013. Since that time, they have acquired 14 stores in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Dan retired in 2010 as lieutenant after a 34-year career in the Downers Grove Fire Department.
