Visualization 2 Help 4 Contingency Planning With New World of Social Media, Web Services, and Mobile Devices

As the world has profoundly changed with disasters being responded to by crowdsourcing from mobile devices sent to web services such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, YikYak, and dozens of other platforms, near real-time contingency planning, disaster response, and emergency management are becoming realities. They are also realities for the “bad guys” taking advantage of disasters for command and control in another dimension. Mapping of Social Media, linking to 3D visualizations, and marriage with quadcopters and alerting can profoundly change the world of Contingency Planners and Emergency Managers in a very positive way to also help build revenue and workflows prior to, during, and after disasters to link economic assets and disasters together.

Directions to San Diego State University Viz Center and Parking Structure:

1. From Interstate 8, exit College Avenue (Exit 10) and head south.

2. Go south on College Ave. and through the stop light with Alvarado Road on left and Canyon Crest (same road, different name) on right). Chemical Sciences Laboratory building is only large building on College Ave. Building has orange arches and also a Parking Information Booth in front of it. Go south almost past the building and make sharp U-Turn into driveway in front of building (turn at yellow fire hydrant). Can get permit at the Parking Information booth if we have arranged for this, otherwise can buy one at the yellow box or pay for one at booth (need business card too for business permit). Red arrows on map mark the pathway.

3. Get permit and exit driveway, can only turn right. Cross College Ave. and turn into second driveway to the right (first goes to first floor of structure, second to second floor). Second floor is the easiest to exit from back onto College Ave. after visit. Blue Arrows on map.

4. Walk back across street where you just drove and Viz Center is just behind the Parking Information booth in CSL 120.
