Workshop Goals

Introduce the user to the Solar Power Concepts with an enjoyable project that they will be able to get many hours of use.

Workshop Description

The workshop gives the participant an understanding of all the components required to produce a portable USB power source and storage device.

On completion of the workshop, the student will be able.

  • Understand how to hook up a simple Solar Cell
  • Understand how to construct fused Lithium Ion Battery Pack (Tesla approach)
  • Understand Li-Ion Battery Ratings
  • Understand concept on Maximum Power Point for Solar Cell and a module used to gain it.
  • Understand Battery Ratings
  • Solder electronic modules
  • Build their own USB Charger or Solar USB Charger

Who Should Attend

Individuals interested in learning about solar power, lithium Ion batteries and interested in electronics as hobby.

Good for ages12 and up, anyone under the age of eighteen must be accompianied by a parent or respnsible adult for the duration of the workshop. Knowledge of Middle School Math is required.

About Your Instructor

Anthony Komar is an experienced Electronic, Software and Systems Engineer with experience that includes delivering training material at GE, Ford, CAT, Bombardier, and Visteon. Mr. Komar has served as leader in local Scout organization.
