Middle School Reading Training #1(ORTIi) Event

You are invited to join us for the Year 2 Fall Middle School RTI training with the Oregon Response to Instruction and intervention project. This is a required training for your District Leadership/District Implementation Team.

Training Date & Location: October 22-23 at the Oregon Gardens, 895 W Main Street, Silverton, 97381

Training Content: This one-and-a-half day training will cover the following topics related to Middle School RTI implementation:

  • Equity in a Multi-Tiered System of Support – Access and outcomes
  • Reviewing Year 1 – Successes and challenges of your current RTI/MTSS work including core/coordinated literacy agreements, interventions, screening/EWS & progress monitoring, & school culture.
  • Data-Based Decision Making – Prerequisites and resources for successful core review and intervention review meetings

Training Purpose: To help districts review their year 1 work, & continue the development of their multi-tiered systems of instruction, assessment, and data-based decision making.

Training Format: Teams should come prepared to discuss their disaggregated data and/or their School Report Card. You will have time to start exploring how equitable your student outcomes are and to identify any specific inequities that exist among student groups.

Teams will be given ample time throughout the training for discussion and problem solving around current successes and challenges. In order to accommodate districts who will be travelling from further away, the afternoon time on day 2 will be optional worktime (with ORTIi coach support) for your district team. When you register, please be sure to indicate if you will be staying for lunch on the second day!

Who Should Attend: District Leadership and District Implementation Team members including District Level Administrators, Middle School Principals, Literacy Specialists, Federal Programs, & General Education Teachers. Please note that the training is designed to provide your District Leadership Team with information that is essential for building the capacity to implement and refine strong and effective RTI systems. All attendees should expect to be RTI leaders in their school and/or district.

Lunch and coffee service will be served both days. If you will not be staying for lunch on the second day, please let us know on your registraiton sheet.

If you have any questions about the training, or who should attend, please contact your ORTIi coach.
