Training Date & Location: November 29, 2018 at Celebrate Conference and Event Center, 15555 SW Bangy Rd #100, Lake Oswego, Or 97035.

Who Should Attend:

  • ORTIi Middle School Cadre 2 - Instructional Leaders and literacy and content area teachers (this training is required for districts in our current cadre). Consult your coach if you require further guidance on who should attend.
  • Other Oregon middle and high school instructional leaders, literacy and content area teachers

Training Content:

Large-scale meta-analyses (Hattie, 2009; Marzano & DuFour 2011) have concluded the key to accelerating student achievement is figuring out how to significantly improve typical daily instruction across the school. RTI/MTSS can potentially be the vehicle for this improvement IF leaders grasp the imperative of focusing squarely on improving core or Tier I instruction.

This day-long seminar will unpack key research supported practices found to improve adolescent literacy (reading/writing/speaking/listening/thinking) across all content areas including electives.

Participants will experience concrete example strategies, critique unscripted classroom videos, engage in learn-by-doing simulations and explore free online resources. Major focus area will include how to increase student engagement, build academic language/vocabulary, and devlop critical thinking and comprehension skills.

Participants are encouraged to attend in school-based teams to maximize effective implementation.

Coffee service and lunch will be provided.

This training will close on November 20, 2018
