Mar 21st, Using RTI for SLD Eligibility, Clackamas Or 

This training is being offered as a makeup training for Cadre 10 districts that were not able to attend one of the RTI for SLD Eligibility trainings offered on December 6, 2016 in Hood River, or Dec 8, 2016 in Eugene. It is required for Cadre 10 districts that did not attend one of those trainings and optional for Cadre 10 districts that did attend a previous SLD training, but would like to send additional people to this training. Please talk to your ORTIi coach for further information and clarification if needed.

This training describes in detail the RTI process for Special Education referral, evaluation, and eligibility decision making for students suspected of having Specific Learning Disability. The rationale for using an RTI approach to SLD Eligibility will be presented, including the empirical support for an RTI approach to identification, the legal context, and the benfits to students. Step by step procedures for referral, evaluation, and elgibility decision-making will be outlined. A Comprehensive Evaluation Checklist, an SLD Report Template, and sample report will be shared. Trainers will guide district teams through a referral and eligibility case study. District teams will be given time to evaluate their systems and create action plans for implementation and enhancement.

This training is required for Cadre 10 districts (districts in their 3rd year of ORTIi participation). Districts that entered the project prior to that are encouraged to attend if they have not yet started using an RTI approach to eligibility decision-making, or if they are interested in improving upon the eligibility decision-making process they already have in place.

Who should attend: district RTI representative, principal, literacy coach, Sped representative, teacher representatives, folks willing to train the rest of your staff. You are receiving this as a district leader, please pass on to others within your district that you think should be attending.
