Fun Steam Summer Camps at Plainsboro Rec Center (Aug 9-13, 2021)
Description: Multidisciplinary STEAM Camp engages children’s imagination and problem-solving skills to build, code, design and shape a better world. Children will engage in age-appropriate hands-on building, gaming, coding, robotics, and engineering activities. Morning 9-12; afternoon 1-4pm.
Spark creativity and bolster a deep interest in Science, Math and Arts in children and young adults through hands-on practical learning by "Making"! Our Academy is uniquely focused towards fostering and developing essential 21st Century and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills like Problem-Solving, Critical thinking, Creativity and Collaboration in a hands-on and practical but fun learning environment. We believe that "Making" can transform the way we all learn, from preschoolers through retirees.
Ages: K-3 Grades; Lunar Base, Moon Mission; We-Do 2.0: Space is the place! In this camp students are challenged to make a Lunar Base while learning robotics, science and engineering skills. They will use LEGO bricks, sensors, motors, gears, and block coding to prep their rover for an outer space expedition! They will think and create projects about energy, water, food, air, transport on the moon.
Ages 4-6 Grades; Electronics Lab: Young makers explore learning basics of electronic circuits and how electronic components work, which they can then apply to an idea of their own. Students create their project using everyday materials. Students will use breadboards and will learn to build circuits that blink, squeak, play music, tick and whirl. Learn soldering skills with a custom take home MAKER'S Badge!
Ages 7-9 Grades; Python Art and Games: Campers will be introduced to the basic principles of Python programming in a step-by-step structured manner. Practical examples and exercises are employed to make fundamental concepts clear, with an emphasis on graphics, colors & animations. They will also learn to build games and art projectS using Python coding.
