Fun Steam Summer Camps at Plainsboro Rec Center (Jun 21-25, 2021)
Description: Multidisciplinary STEAM Camp engages children’s imagination and problem-solving skills to build, code, design and shape a better world. Children will engage in age-appropriate hands-on building, gaming, coding, robotics, and engineering activities. Morning 9-12; afternoon 1-4pm.
Spark creativity and bolster a deep interest in Science, Math and Arts in children and young adults through hands-on practical learning by "Making"! Our Academy is uniquely focused towards fostering and developing essential 21st Century and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills like Problem-Solving, Critical thinking, Creativity and Collaboration in a hands-on and practical but fun learning environment. We believe that "Making" can transform the way we all learn, from preschoolers through retirees.
Ages: K-3 Grades; Jungle Book, We-Do 2.0: Robotics program with a Jungle book theme! Think Mowgli™ and his animal friends! Monkey around using motors, gears, pulleys, and sensors to create fun Jungle themed missions! Campers will learn about simple machines like gears to create motion. Its problem solving & logical thinking with block coding!
Ages 4-6 Grades; Scratch Games and Coding with Minecraft: Create your own games & animations with SCRATCH using “drag and drop programing” with MINECRAFT objects. SCRATCH, by MIT, helps young kids to learn to think creatively, reason systematically, & work collaboratively. Color coded, drag & drop block programming, as well as sounds, backdrop images & drawings are used. Get them to code! MINECRAFT is a popular game with young people who want to learn to build game design.
Ages 7-9 Grades; EV3 Battle Bots: Campers learn robotics, engineering, and coding to build a fighting robot! Students can make their own custom design and accessorize them! Utilize LEGOs, gears, and sensors to create a robot that responds to your command! EV3 Battle Bots is an excellent way to motivate children to get deeper into robotics while enhancing their creativity, logical thinking, and social skills.
