SkyView Training Class

We all recognize that transition training is important before hopping into a new airplane or airplane type. Whether in the clouds or in clear skies, flying a new plane is not the right time to be learning how to operate aircraft avionics and systems. We at Dynon recognize this, and offer an ongoing series of hands-on training. These are half-day courses, sitting in front of live SkyView equipment, with in depth instruction on how to operate your avionics. 

These classes will be at the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, WI, in the Hilton Garden Inn on north side of the airport.  The air-conditioned hotel conference room offers comfortable seating and a classroom-like environment with a full audio/visual presentation.  Classes are structured with limited seating to ensure no more than 2 students at each SkyView display.  We will hold two classes per day, both VFR focused and will cover IFR topics briefly. The morning and afternoon classes contain substantially similar content. Please sign up for one session only so that we can maximize SkyView training station availability.

Class Description:
 This class will introduce pilots to most ground and in-flight operational features of the Dynon Avionics SkyView system.  In-depth discussion of installation and initial configuration of the system is not an objective of this class, though some of those concepts will be addressed where relevant.  

Specific to the SkyView system, pilots will learn how to:
  - Configure the display(s) for various phases of ground and flight operations.
  - Navigate using the integrated VFR GPS moving map and flight planner.
  - Configure and operate the autopilot for both VFR and IFR missions.
  - Access course guidance information from various navigation sources installed in the aircraft.
  - Locate and understand various calculated data presented by SkyView (ie:  winds aloft, TAS, density altitude, angle-of-attack, fuel computer).

An additional objective of this class is to educate pilots about the process of transitioning from analog instrumentation to glass panel systems in a small GA aircraft.  Topics covered will include:
  - Cognitive differences of analog and digital/electronic instrumentation
  - Need for training and experience in successful transition
  - Benefits and pitfalls of glass panel systems
  - Cockpit resource management

Transportation:  
  - Attendees are responsible for their own transportation to and from the event.
