Elder Mediation Training

The Elder Mediation Training is an introduction for mediators and elder care professionals to topics centered around the unique challenges and special techniques for facilitating successful  conversations about living arrangements, caregiving, family communication, personal property distrubution, and other potentially difficult family conversations.

Topics Include:

• Strategies for case development
• Working with large, dispersed family groups
• Including the "voice" of the elder
• Challenges of aging -- physical and mental
• Recognizing stereotyping and bias

Participants will learn about the unique challenges of elders and their families in mediation.  Trainees will practice acquired skills throughout the training with actual case scenarios in small group exercises and role plays. Our training is highly interactive.

Our program began offering elder mediation training in 2009. It was the first community mediaton program in the Bay Area to design and offer training in this field.  Supporters of our training include Senior Court, Senior Peer Counseling, senior living facilities, and others.

Our elder medation program is well-known througout the Bay Area!
