Climbing SRT vs Climbing DRT – When to use them and how to use them both to be effective

Single rope technique (SRT) has increasingly become more popular than double rope technique (DRT). In this session Mark and Carson will demonstrate the advantages of both and explain the benefit of knowing when to use either SRT or DRT and in the proper situations to increase safety and productivity.

Mark Chisholm
Aspen Tree Expert Company, Jackson, NJ 

One-part acrobat, one-part expert rope climber, one-part tree physiologist, and several parts competitor and thrill seeker, Mark Chisholm is a third-generation certified arborist with his family-owned Aspen Tree Expert Company in New Jersey. His expertise in tree care has made him a sought-after consultant and industry spokesperson for the world of  arboriculture, and he regularly travels the globe to consult with international ar borist associations and conducts educational sessions nationwide on behalf of STIHL, Inc. He has also done numerous national media interviews, including with Weather Channel’s Wake Up with Al and ABC’s 20/20.

  

Chisholm has won the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) New Jersey Chapter Tree Climbing Championship 21 of the last 22 years and won the ISA International Tree Climbing Championship in 1997, 2001 and, again, in 2010. Chisholm currently holds the world record in the 40-foot secured footlock climbing event, with a time of 10.8 seconds.

Carson Smith
O'Neil's Tree Service, Palm Harbor, FL
Carson Smith is an ISA Certified Tree Worker and a Certified Arborist. He works for O’Neil’s Tree Service in the Tampa area. Carson returns to teach at the Outdoor Tree School again this year. He has competed in the Florida TCC event for several years and will be competing again this year.
