Expand your business! Become qualified as an ISA Tree Risk Assessment professional. This TRAQ class and exam is open to all interested parties who meet the qualifications and is limited to 40 arborists (first-come/first-served). The qualification consists of a 2-day educational course followed by a ½ day assessment that includes both a written and field component. It is required that you attend the entire course and successfully complete the assessment in order to receive this qualification. The ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification is valid for five years from the date the TRAQ exam is passed. The qualification holder is required to take the course and pass the exam every five years in order to maintain the qualification.

In order to register at the Member Price you MUST be a member of ISA International.

All prerequisites for registering will be reviewed and your registration will be finalized via email.

Registration will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. Space is limited to 40 people.

Registration closes at midnight on June 20, 2014 (or when filled); a waiting list will be kept if the registration becomes filled. Call 941-342-0153 if interested in being added to the waiting list.  We expect this class to fill quickly.
Check payments must be received by Friday June 20, 2014 in order to remain on the class list.
Refund or substitution requests must be received by Friday June 20, 2014; no refunds or substitutions after June 20th.

During the registration process you will be asked to agree to the terms and conditions in the handbook; if you do not agree with them you cannot take the course and exam. Find the handbook at:

What is required to bring to the class:
 - your government issued photo ID
 - your TRAQ Manual and Workbook (will be shipped to the address you provide)
 - your hard hat and high visiblity vest or shirt
 - #2 pencils and clipboard for taking notes and completing worksheets
 - rain gear, including a large ziplock bag (just in case!)
 - come prepared to spend part of the day outdoors
 - please dress for your comfort level indoors and outdoors;
    we cannot always control the room temperature to suit everyone

Meet the Instructors:

• Norm Easey
  Norm Easey has been an active member of ISA for 29 years and is a charter member of the Florida Chapter ISA.  He has been active in urban forest management in Florida since receiving his bachelors’ degree in Forestry/Resource Management in 1980 from the University of Wisconsin. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Florida Chapter ISA. He also has a part-time urban forestry consulting practice where he specializes in tree risk assessment and urban forest management. For 18 years Norm was the Forestry Manager for Sarasota County, Florida and has also been a County Forester with the Florida Division of Forestry. Norm served for 4 years on the panel of experts that created the ISA TRee Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) credential.
  

• Dr. Bruce Fraedrich
  Dr. Bruce Fraedrich is the Vice President of Research at the F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert Company and the Director of Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories. In this position, Dr. Fraedrich is responsible for directing research, technical support and training functions for the Bartlett Company. His research interests include diseases of landscape plants, tree risk management and planting and establishment of landscape plants. He received a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from Clemson University and a Masters in Forestry from Duke University.

An Overview:

You will have the privilege of learning Tree Risk Assessment from Norm Easey and Dr. Bruce Fraedrich, two familiar and well-liked speakers at other Florida ISA seminars. They will provide a  thorough presentation of the ISA Tree Assessment Manual accompanied with workbook activities. Indoor instruction will be followed-up with hands-on outdoor demonstrations that will walk you through the skills you need to know to become a knowledgeable Tree Risk Assessor. The 2-day class will conclude with the exam on the 3rd day. You will learn:

   -   Tree biology and mechanics

   -   Data analysis and risk categorizaion
   -   Mitigation
   -   Reporting
