Course Description: In recent years, the intersection between mental health and college athletes has gained more attention as evidenced by the amount of dialogue surrounding this topic at the recent NCAA Convention.  To assist college and university administrators with this critical and complex issue, the NCAA recently released guidelines on best practices for the identification and treatment of mental health concerns.  Licensed counseling and sport psychologist, Dr. Sheriece Sadberry, will discuss the NCAA guidelines and explore how this groundbreaking document will likely impact the student-athletes, coaches, and administrators at your institution.  In addition, Dr. Sadberry will share strategies to develop a treatment team approach in identifying and referring student-athletes who may be in distress and identifying resources/providers, which may be available on your campus and in your local community to assist.
