Course Description and Benefits: This program will offer best practices, strategies and tips to prepare for, and defend, organizations and athletes in sports administrative hearings. Specifically, attorney Michael Buckner, who has represented numerous parties before sports administrative hearing committees and panels, will outline some of the strategies and tactics he developed during his advocacy practice. During the webinar, Mr. Buckner will review several topics, including: investigations and discovery; witnesses; client preparation; the record; the hearing (strategy, tactics and presentations); and process and procedures. Finally, Mr. Buckner will: (a) use real-life examples from sports administrative hearings to illustrate his points; and (b) highlight approaches to consider in different forums (including before NCAA infractions committees, state athletics associations, and sports arbitration panels) and for various charges and allegations (e.g., rules-violations, anti-doping violations/drug test fails, misconduct).
