Bl. Rosalie Rendu was an extraordinary woman with great energy, creativity, fidelity and courage. If she has something to say to the men and women of today, it is precisely because of the person she became by the grace of God and by her response to that grace. It is in that example that we will honor her name in our formation day.

 

The founding members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul did not have any direct experience in serving the poor, and so they went to Sister Rosalie, a Daughter of Charity.  She accompanied the young men on their first home visits.  Because her "beloved poor" trusted her, they trusted the students.

Rule: Part 1, Article 3:12 "The Society continually promotes the formation and training of its members and officers, in order to increase their knowledge of the Society, deepen their spirituality, and help them improve the sensitivity, quality, and effectiveness of their service to the poor."
