Keynote Speaker: Tom Dwyer, Chair,
National Voice of the Poor Committee

The Society's Voice of the Poor Program is in many ways a return to our roots as Vincentians.  It recognizes that for systemic change to be effected and for the the lives of the poor and marginalized to be meaningfully impacted, charity and justice must work together to light the way.  It also harmonizes beautifully with the bision of the Catholic Church being so lovingly articulated by Pope Francis, a vibrant and true champion of the poor and marginalized.

Concepts such as "what is justice" and "toxic charity" will be examined.  The role and meaning of advocacy, whether at the Federal, State, local or community / neighborhood level, will be explored.  Ways that Conferences, Districts and Diocesan Councils can establish and promote Voice of the Poor programs and develop Voice of the Poor liaisons and leaders will be presented.  Resources available and networks to be utilized will be identified so that Vincentians interested in this aspect of our call to action will know that they have ample support in this journey.

All VOP taskforce members, Conference VOP liaisons, and any Vincentians who would like to explore this aspect of our ministry are encouraged to attend.
