2015 Twilight Series Kickoff: Pastured Poultry

Join us as we kick off our 2015 Twilight Workshop Series! This workshop will take place at Copicut Farms in Dartmouth, MA. We will take a farm tour, where folks will get a close up of the brooder, the broiler field coops, the laying hens, and the pig pastures. Following this, we spend some time touring the slaughtering facility. There will be in-depth conversation about the set up and daily functioning of the slaughtering facility as well as discussion about the resources available in the state for folks to do their own poultry processing using the State licensed Mobile Processing Unit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Copicut Farms, located in Dartmouth, is owned and operated by a fourth generation Massachusetts farm family. They raise pasture-fed poultry, which means all of their birds spend their lives foraging on pesticide-free pastures with constant access to fresh grass, legumes, and insects. Pasture-raised chicken, turkey, and eggs are a healthy choice, with more beneficial nutrients such as omega-3's and vitamins B & E, and less saturated fats than can be found in their grocery store counterparts. Copicut prides themselves on the fact that their birds spend their entire lives on the  farm right up until their products are ready for your table, which means they can ensure that their animals are treated humanely, and customers receive the absolute freshest meat and eggs available anywhere.

After our tours, there will be limited seating. Please bring your own lawn chair/blanket if you are unable to stand for extended periods of time.

Beginning Farmers (10 years or less in industry) : $5.00
SEMAP Members: $15.00
Non-SEMAP Members: $20.00
