Step the Beat Music Fundamentals

This summer we will combine the Step the Beat and Step Into Piano classes for a special class. Step the Beat is an intro to music course designed for our youngest budding musicians who are preschool ages 3-5. Step into Piano is phase II in our early childhood music program. Ideally, children will have completed a year or two of Step the Beat prior to entering Step into Piano, but this is not required. With Step into Piano we offer a group option for children to begin learning basic piano skills. We introduce basic music concepts in a fun and interactive manner utilizing a modified approach of Hungarian educator Zoltan Kodaly. The Kodaly method is widely accepted worldwide and uses age appropriate folk songs, rhythm symbols, movement and singing to cover four main areas of focus:

** Note Reading ** Rhythm Essentials ** Ear Training ** Sight Reading **

Session runs July 9 - August 27th

There are two class tuition package options

- 6 weeks of class for $120.00

- 8 weeks of class for $160.00

Classes are limited to 10 children. For classes held at school, students are picked up directly from their classrooms upon dismissal and taken to class within the school facility by authorized Musical Chairs instructors. Parents and caregivers pick up children after class or the children can be taken to the school extended care program.

Additional classes are available based on interest and held at Musical Chairs Studio. A minimum of 4 students is required to create a new class. Parents are welcome to collaborate with friends for a day and time that works for you and we'll provide the instructor.
