The 4th Annual Luminary Night will be held on Sunday, December 5th, 2010. Homes throughout Wellesley will light luminary candles and place them along driveways and sidewalks in a non-denominational celebration of the season. Proceeds will directly benefit the WHJWC’s Charitable Giving program, as well as the Wellesley Friendly Aid Association (WFAA).
WHJWC has served the town of Wellesley since 1944. In July 2010, WHJWC was granted tax-exempt status as a charitable organization under section 501(c)(3), enabling our supporters, including Luminary Night participants, to claim their donations as a tax deduction. Through our four fundraisers – the Wellesley Phone Book, Wellesley Marketplace, Luminary Night, and the Kitchen Tour – the WHJWC raises money that is donated back to our community. For more information about the WHJWC or to make a tax deductible contribution to benefit our community, please visit www.whjwc.org.
The Fund for Wellesley has partnered with the WHJWC to provide financial support for Luminary Night 2010. The Fund for Wellesley is a permanent source of funding that fosters innovation and collaboration in support of community needs and opportunities. Its mission is to promote the common good and to benefit all residents of the Town. For more information regarding the Fund for Wellesley, please visit www.thefundforwellesley.org.

Luminary Night in Wellesley
Sunday, December 5, 2010
(Storm date is Sunday, December 12)
How to create your luminary kits:
Please count the components to ensure that you have the correct number per kit:
10 tea lights
10 plastic containers with lids
10 white paper bags
10 double-sided foam tape squares
Please follow these instructions and light the candles by 5pm on Luminary Night.
1.) Remove the protective cover from each of the squares of tape and adhere to the bottom of tea candles, then to the center of each of the 10 lids
2.) Fill each plastic container about ¾ full of tap water; place the lid on each of the containers
3.) Insert each completed container in the white luminary bag
4.) Set the completed bags 5 to 8 feet apart on a nonflammable surface along your property, walkway, and/or driveway.
For safety, designate someone to monitor the burning luminaries. The tea candles will stay lit for 4-6 hours. Ensure that the luminaries are completely extinguished before disposing of them appropriately. If the weather is questionable, please visit our website at www.whjwc.org for updates throughout that day.
