Media Outreach Essentials: A Workshop to Help You Put Mediation in the Media

Reaching out to "the media" can feel intimidating. Especially when you're new to doing media outreach, it can be hard to know who is the right person to contact at a news outlet, or what the right thing is to say in pitching a story.

But really, "the media" are just people in your community who tell stories for a living and are always looking for local angles on issues and people who can speak about them. As mediators, you're already experts in your field and are well-equipped with speaking clearly and directly. You're just who they're looking for! With the right tools, you can be very successful in reaching out to the media and engaging this important method of getting the word out about how mediation can help people.

This 75-minute webinar is designed for absolute beginners, but will have some useful tips for even the seasoned media spokesperson.

Led by veteran journalist and communications specialist Carolyn Jack, this workshop will provide you with basic skills and tools to:

  • pitch a story about mediation to local journalists
  • get your story to the right people in the newsroom
  • maximize the impact of your media outreach

Cost: This webinar is free for Mediate BC Roster mediators

Registration Deadline: September 12, 2014.
Webinar content will be tailored to registered participants.
