Saturday, November 16, 2019

Check In: 8:15 - 8:45 for Kings (OPEN 1200+) G/45 AND Rooks (U1200) G/45 

 Check In: 9:15 - 9:45 All other Sections

Kings G/45 & Rooks G/45 Start Time: 9:00 am 

All other sections  Start Time: 10:00 am 

Cost: 
$22.00 per player.  
$3.00 Late fee after November 12

Equipment:  
Kings and Rooks are Required to bring Clocks and Notation books 
(Boards and pieces will be provided.)

Awards:

1)  Trophies will be given to the top 4 places in each section with trophies for plus score as well.

2)  Two medals will be given in each section for Sportsmanship.

3)  Awards for players receiving a plus score but finish outside of top 4.  

*Solkoff will be used as tiebreaker.  If teams are tied then the total solkoff score will be used to determine winner.  

This is the sum of opponents' scores. The idea is that the same score is more valuable if achieved against players with better performances in a given tournament. Looks like an ideal tie-breaking method and has been used since the Swiss system was invented.

Section Details:  ALL SECTIONS NWSRS ONLY!

Knight Sections:  For beginning unrated players and players rated < 600.

This division may be split into smaller sections based on number of registrants and age.  5 round Swiss, G30, NWSRS rated.  Recording is not required.  Clocks will be used only if both players agree or if the tournament director assigns a clock.

Bishop Sections:  For intermediate unrated players and players rated 601 – 899.

The U900 division may be split into smaller sections based on number of registrants and rating, or age if unrated.  5 round Swiss, G35, NWSRS rated. Recording is not required.  Clocks may be assigned and must be used if a director or player brings one to the table.

Rook Sections:  Anyone may play in this division, but players with NWSRS ratings > 1200 MUST play here. 

This division may be split into sections based on number of registrants and rating, or age if unrated.   4 round Swiss, G45. Clocks must be used and Notation is required

King/Open Section:  Players with NWSRS rating 1200+ play in the open section, but lower rated players are also welcome.  Players with NWSRS ratings 1200+ MUST play here. 4 rounds, G/45.  Clocks and Notation Required.  Players must bring their own clock.
