Check In for 1000+ sections starts at 8:30 am. Play starts at 9:00 am.

Check In for under 1000 sections starts at 9:00 am. Play starts at 9:45 am.

$20.00 per player.

Please bring chess clocks if you have them.
(Boards and pieces will be provided.)

Awards:
Trophies to the top four finishers in the lower sections. Medals to others with plus scores. Awards in the 1300+ section are cash prizes (1st = $60, 2nd = $30, 3rd = $15).

The tournament will be NWSRS rated (ratingsnw.com). No prior NWSRS rating or tournament experience is required. Latest NWSRS ratings will be used for pairings. 1300+ section will be dual-rated if all players are USCF members.
100% Pre-registration event. No on-site registrations accepted.
Space is limited to 80 players. Registration will close when that limit is reached or at 11:59 pm PST, Thursday, 2/22/2018, whichever comes first. No late registrations will be accepted.
Ties will be broken by computer only (Tie break order- Solkoff, Cumulative, Opponent’s cumulative). Ties split cash prize in 1200+ section.
Pizza orders will be taken at check-in and pizza will arrive around noon.
Upper sections please bring clocks and notation sheets. (Boards and sets provided for all sections.)

Sections

Players are divided into two divisions. The upper division is for players rated over 1000 and play in this division begins at 9 a.m. The lower division is for players under 1000 and play in that division begins at 9:45.

Upper Division – over 1000

This division will be divided into two sections: 1300+ and under 1300. These sections breaks are estimates and may be modified to ensure appropriately sized sections. Four rounds. G/45 +10sec delay. Clocks and notation required. Approximate round times: 9am, 10:45am, 12:30pm, and 2:15pm. 1300+ section will be dual NWSRS/USCF rated if all players are USCF members.

Lower Division – under 1000

This division will be divided into 3 sections: under 1000, under 750, and under 550. These section breaks are estimates and may be modified to ensure even numbers and adequately sized sections. Five rounds. G/30. Approximate round times: 9:45am, 11:15am, 12:15am, 1:45pm, 3:00pm.

Unrated players join the section based on their grade level times 100, e.g., 4^th-grade x 100 = 400.
