Oral Motor Function for Lactation Consultants

5/19/2016 Update: The IBLCE has approved the workshop for 7 L CERPs.

This course provides the LC  with an in-depth understanding of the oral motor and oral sensory function necessary for successful breastfeeding.  It will educate the LC on issues that interfere with correct function and how to identify and manage the difficulty to ensure a successful breastfeeding experience.

Spend a day with feeding expert Joan Dietrich Comrie, M.S., CCC-SLP, a speech pathologist with over 30 years of Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing expertise.  You will learn how to identify, understand, refer and manage the most prevalent issues that can interfere with successful breastfeeding.  You will supplement your tool box with better understanding and management of limited tongue and lip mobility, reasons for poor latch and ineffective suck, swallow breathe patterns and understand typical oral motor and oral sensory functioning.

Fees for the workshop are $200 if registering in May, and $225 if registering in June.  Hotel information can be downloaded here.  If there is anything we can do to assist, please contact us via the information on the left of this screen.
