Touching the Possible:

Living Peace

An Insight Dialogue Retreat with Phyllis Hicks

As humans we are exquisitely sensitive, every moment awash in a sea of contact. With feeling, thinking, and perceiving a sense of the world arises.  Pausing to notice how this happens internally and relationally is a profound resource for peace and wise action in our daily life.

In this Insight Dialogue retreat we will practice taking refuge in awareness, wisdom, and spiritual friendship (Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha.)  We will investigate obstacles to friendship and beloved community, internally in the heart-mind, and externally in social constructions.
Cultivating Lovingkindness, Compassion, Appreciative Joy, and Relational Equanimity, we will explore foundations for peace, possibilities for courageous personal and collective action, and the benefits of deep companionship on the Noble Eightfold Path.

The retreat will be held in Noble Silence except for the Insight Dialogue sessions. We will alternate periods of silent meditation practice, Insight Dialogue, mindful movement and time in nature.

Insight Dialogue brings the mindfulness and tranquility of traditional silent meditation practice into our contact with others.  It offers a way of cultivating sustained concentration and mindfulness as we investigate patterns of stress and reactivity.   This co-meditative practice allows us to face the complexity of the relational dimension with awareness, and true investigation into the nature of suffering and its release can begin.   More information about the practice of Insight Dialogue, can be found at https://metta.org/insight-dialogue-3/

This retreat is best suited to people with prior meditation expereince, but previous Insight Dialogue experience is not required. If you have questions about the suitability of this retreat please contact maryg@triangleinsight.org
