Prepare your heart for Holy Week with the Rt. Rev. John McKee Sloan, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama.
Bishop Sloan is the author of a novel, Jabbok, and is a frequent speaker nationally. Bishop Sloan says, "[Jabbok is] a blend of fact and fiction, about the relationship between an old man who's lost his faith and a young boy who grows up to answer a call to ordained ministry. It's a story about hope restored and the struggle of being honest in our faith."
Bishop Sloan was a graduate of Mississippi State University before attending seminary at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. He was ordained a priest in 1982 and bishop suffragan in 2008. He became the official diocesan bishop of Alabama in 2012. Bishop Sloan grew up in Vicksburg, Mississippi and currently lives in Birmingham, Alabama with his wife, Tina. They have two children.
