Homeless Health Care Los Angeles is excited to announce no cost, regional training opportunities in collaboration with LAHSA that are available throughout Los Angeles County.
Curriculum 1: Care Coordination and Systems Navigation - Cohort B
Course Description:
This entry-level course is designed for participants with limited to no professional experience in the homeless services sector. Through lecture-based presentations and interactive exercises, trainees will become familiar with the most current evidence-based practices in the field, and will begin applying these practices to service provision for various subpopulations within the homeless community. This course consists of 5 full-day trainings, which are 7 hours each. Participants will receive a Care Coordination and Systems Navigation Certificate upon completion of the 5-day course. 35-hour CEUs are available for this course from BRN, CAADE, CAMFT, CCAPP.
This five day, 35-hour course will instruct the following topics:
Day I – Landscape of Homelessness/Overview of Homeless Services
Day II – Evidence-Based Practices: Trauma Informed Care (Including Self Care), Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Housing First, and Critical Time Intervention
Day III – Boundaries, Ethics, Cultural Awareness, Cultural Humility and Cultural Competence
Day IV – Housing First, Housing Programs/Subsidies, and Benefits
Day V – Core Functions of Case Management: Outreach and Engagement, Assessment, Case Implementation/Systems Navigation, and Documentation/Evaluation
Course Measurement:
This course is measured through a pre and post-test, and participant demonstration of group activities and exercises that reinforce the learning objectives of each module.

Completion:
Participants will receive a Care Coordination and Systems Navigation Certificate upon completion of the 5-day course. 35-hour CEUs are available for this course from BRN, CAADE, CAMFT, CCAPP.
Who should attend: Homeless services staff who have worked at their agency between 0-6 months.
