The Legacy Nature Preserve is the last stop of the Jordan River before it enters Great Salt Lake. It is also closed to the public except for this exculsive event!
Thousands of migratory and resident birds depend on this rich ecosystem for food, rest, and raising their young. Celebrate this wild part of the river. Audubon will offer a guided bird walk from 8 to 9 am. See which birds are active at the preserve and on the river as fall migration gets started. At 9 am volunteers will gather to harvest and plant willow and other trees, plant other native shrubs, and spread native seeds to bolster habitat for wildlife. Participants should dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring a reusable water bottle. Bird walk participants should bring binoculars, if they have them. Some binoculars will be available. SNACKS AND DRINKS WILL BE PROVIDED. Bring your friends and enjoy working together outside!
Event sponsored by The Nature Conservancy of Utah, Tree Utah, and Audubon as part of the Get Into the River Festival.
The Get into the River Festival is a month-long celebration of the Jordan River. The 50-mile Jordan River flows from Utah Lake to Great Salt Lake through 3 counties and 16 cities. During the month of September, municipalities and organizations host events that help celebrate, protect and restore the Jordan River corridor.
