This wonderful American Grown Field to Vase Dinner has passed. However, you can relive the event through the beautiful photos that were taken that evening that are now found on Flickr.
Picture yourself surrounded by the colorful splendor of field-grown flowers -- Ranunculus flowers that grow prolifically at this time of year in the coastal community of Carlsbad, California.
For decades, flower enthusiasts have flocked to The Flower Fields each spring to enjoy the spectacle of a sea of seasonal blooms -- fifty acres of ranunculus!
This year, on April 15th, something extra special is happening at The Flower Fields.
For the very first time in The Flower Fields' history, a select group of only 100 guests will enjoy an unforgettable evening at our next "Field to Vase" dinner taking place in the heart of the blooms.
That's right, experience an amazing dinner in the middle of those beautiful Ranunculus at The Flower Fields!
We are delighted that Marissa Gerlach, executive chef of Vista Valley Country Club in Vista, California, will be the evening's featured chef.
Marissa has a deep interest in the connections between food, agriculture and the history of cuisine, and she strives to use fresh and local ingredients in all of her menus.
Marissa will greet guests as she introduces each course, describing each menu item and connecting it with the season and place.
Third generation flower farmer Mike Mellano will personally lead guests on tours of the fields and speak about the growing and harvesting of flowers. With a PhD in plant pathology and a lifetime of hands-on experience, Mike is an expert on growing flowers and will be happy to answer your every question.
Bess Wyrick of the renowned Los Angeles and New York-based studio Celadon & Celery will create the event's floral displays using Ranunculus in every hue.
Her designs have been featured in the finest hotels and events in New York, and she promises a breathtaking display for guests.
Bess will be speaking about her theory of floral design and will be a guest at dinner, so you'll have plenty of opportunity to talk with this amazing artist.
Each guest will enjoy a gourmet, four-course farm-to-fork style meal, sip beverages with a distinct local pedigree, and take home a floral arrangement as a symbolic memento of the evening's theme: Celebrating American Grown Flowers.
You won't want to miss this evening of flowers, food, friendship -- and a focus on local flower farming in our community.
