Tapping into Internal Motivation
March 15 HDI Rocky Mountain Chapter Meeting
Details: Employee engagement is at the front of mind for most organizations. Research indicates that engaged employees are more productive. A key element of engagement is motivation. Most of us believe the best way to motivate others is with external rewards. Recent research indicates this may not always be the case. In this session we will discuss the recent research and trends around motivation.

- Discuss Daniel Pink’s findings around motivation
- Evaluate how effective your current strategy is for meeting employees’ needs
- Determine next steps to creating a more motivating environment for your employees
Speaker: Kathy Stang, Learning and Development Manager
About the Speaker: Kathy Stang has been a part of Summit County’s resort community since 1987. She has worked in many areas of the service industry including mountain operations, food & beverage, hospitality, and retail. Kathy joined the Vail Resorts’ Learning and Development team and in 2000 and is responsible for Keystone and Breckenridge Resorts. She focuses on developing and enhancing job performance through training, coaching, teambuilding, and assessments. Kathy received her M.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Denver, where she also instructed public speaking. Kathy has a passion for “mountain sports,” and competed at a professional level in mountain biking for several years.
