December Chapter Meeting 
From Pill Hill to South Waterfront:
OHSU's Campus Expansion and New Facilities 

OHSU is the largest research institution in Oregon. Approximately 2,500 medical, dental, nursing, science and engineering, allied health students are enrolled at OHSU, with another 1,000 people in training programs. OHSU employs approximately 12,600 people, making it the largest employer in Portland and the third largest in Oregon. OHSU has a 116-acre main campus on Marquam Hill, 8 acres in the South Waterfront, and a 20-acre parcel just north of the South Waterfront that was donated by the Schnitzer Family. OHSU has just opened the new Collaborative Life Sciences Building in the Schnitzer Campus, and has three new building in design for both the Schnitzer Campus and South Waterfront.

Brian Newman, Campus Planning, Development & Real Estate, OHSU
Brian Newman is the Associate Vice President of Campus Planning, Development and Real Estate at OHSU.  In this capacity he works to achieve the University’s strategic goals through overall management of space and campus planning, facility planning, third-party development agreements and real estate transactions.  Brian has over 20 years of professional experience as both a practitioner and policymaker in planning and real estate development.  Before joining OHSU in 2007 he was elected member of the Metro Council where he represented southwest Portland and most of urban Clackamas County.  He was also a land use and transportation consultant with Parsons Brinckerhoff, an international engineering and construction management firm.  Brian obtained his bachelors degree from Willamette University and has a masters degree in city and regional planning from the University of California, Berkeley.  He was named a Harry S. Truman Scholar in 1994 and a Marshall Memorial Fellow in 2004.  Brian lives in southwest Portland with his wife Jennifer and their three children.

Parking Information

The entrance to the banquet room is located just up the sidewalk from the main entrance to the Widmer Brothers Pub and Restaurant. There are two parking lots at the intersection of Mississippi and N Russell as well as a gravel lot across from the restaurant. Complimentary street parking is also available.
