On Wednesday April 12, 2016 from 4 to 6 pm United Health Services' Suicide Prevention Center will present the QPR course.
Course Description:
QPR, Question, Persuade, and Refer is a 2 hour training teaching 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying "YES" to saving the life of a youth, friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.
Course Objectives:
- Provide an overview of the prevalence of suicide (deaths, attempts, and suicide ideation)
- Raise awareness of the preventability of suicide
- Recognize the warning signs of suicide
- Build basic skills to recognize and respond to those at risk for suicide
The cost per person is $20, which includes all training materials.
