2012 Volunteer Stream Monitoring Symposium

Welcome to  the 2012 Volunteer Stream Monitorng Symposium registration website!

The Symposium will focus on "Assessing Urban  Impacts in Your Watersheds" and will be held Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17 at Concordia University in Mequon.

Since 2006 the River Alliance of Wisconsin, University of Wisconsin-Extension and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources have hosted a statewide gathering for citizen stream monitors, local program coordinators and others interested in volunteer stream monitoring. The Symposium is a great opportunity for networking and education.

This year's Symposium begins at 2:00pm on Friday March 16 and ends at 4:30pm on Saturday March 17th. Friday's opening speaker is DNR Secretary Cathy Stepp. She will be followed by a panel discussion about impediments to fish movement in rivers. Saturday's agenda includes many in-depth sessions on topics such as how DNR uses water quality data and the many sources of pollution to urban streams. The full agenda is available here. All of the Symposium sessions will take place in Concordia's Center for Environmental Stewardship.

The Wisconsin Stream Monitoring Award Ceremony will take place at the Highland House just minutes from Concordia from 5:00-6:00pm on Friday. A social hour (with cash bar) will begin at 5pm, followed by the awards ceremony. An optional dinner will begin at 6:30pm. If you would like to join us for dinner, the additional$15 fee can be added on to your Symposium registration.

The early registration deadline is February 17. The early registration fee is $20 and the first 20 people that register will receive a waterproof file folder thanks to a donation from EZ Office Products After February 17th the registration fee will increase by $10. The registration fee includes lunch on Saturday and all sessions. The registration fee does NOT inlcude dinner on Friday or lodging.
