Launching the Next 500 Years:
The Joint Commemoration of the Reformation and Common Prayer
Led by Dr. Dirk Lange
, Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN

Join us for a day of engaging theological conversation. GIFTS events are open to all and are an engaging gathering of people interested in ongoing adult faith formation.  Come for Bible study, fellowship and the opportunity to Grow In Faith To Serve.

This presentation is the third in a year-long focus on Martin Luther: Teacher for Today, commemorating 500 years since the Lutheran Reformation.  Lutherans and Catholics are commemorating the 500 Years of Reformation together!  We'll join Dr. Dirk Lange of Luther Seminary in exploring the reasons for an
ecumenical commemoration of the Reformation and its significance, the role of worship, and how it can impact our witness to the Gospel today as we engage an on-going Reformation.

Coffee and check-in will be available at 8:30 a.m.
Event begins at 9 a.m.

Your Event Registration Fee of $15 covers lunch and snacks.
Please consider a sponsoring membership to help fund the costs associated with bringing excellent presenters to our synod.

Presenter:

Dirk G. Lange serves as Associate Dean of Graduate Theological Education and Fredrik A. Schiotz Chair of Missions and Professor of Worship at Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minn. An ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, he received his Ph.D. in theology from Emory University. Working in the area of liturgical theology, Lange re-reads classic theological texts through the lens of liturgy, trauma theory and post-structuralist literary theory. He was Project Officer for the Joint Catholic-Lutheran Commemoration of the 500 Years of Reformation in Lund, Sweden and one of the authors of the Common Prayer (the liturgy to be used at the Commemoration).
