LA Post February Luncheon

The SAME Los  Angeles Post is pleased to present Mr. Gary Lee Moore, PE, ENV, SP.  Mr. Moore is the City Engineer of the City of Los Angeles, leading a world-class organization of professional engineers, architects, surveyors and technical support in teh second largest city in the United States.

Since Mr. Moore became City Engineer in 2003, he has overseen the completion of 1,674 projects totaling more than $4.1 billion. As the general manager of the Bureau of Engineering, he is responsible for the City's planning, design, and construction of all public facilities, management of billions of dollars of voter-approved public bond funds and the delivery of cross-sector local government programs that serve millions of residents and businesses in diverse neighborhoods and industries.

 With more than 30 years of public service, Mr. Moore is an accomplished executive and professional engineer, who oversees 733 employees and is responsible for an annual operating budget of $116 million.

Mr. Moore leads a highly trained and talented team delivering comprehensive, innovative engineering services by using best-in-class management practices and fostering multi-agency collaborations that are transparent and accountable.

Mr. Moore has a proven track record in the delivery of sustainable development projects throughout the City. During his tenure, the Bureau of Engineering has delivered numerous projects certified according to the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards, incorporating advances in green design, construction and operation technologies that reflect the highest levels of environmental quality and natural resource stewardship.

Mr. Moore graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering and completed the UCLA Anderson School of Management's Executive Organizational Leadership Program. He is a registered Professional Civil and Mechanical Engineer in California, has authored and co-authored many research papers and has presented his work at a wide variety of professional conferences.
