TATT Cherokee County Workshop

Ingredients for Community Success: Moving to the Next Level

Ten at the Top is celebrating 10 years of connecting the Upstate in 2019. As part of the 10th anniversary, TATT is holding community workshops in each of the 10 Upstate counties with each one focused on an issue of interest within that county. The program will include communities, businesses or organizations that are successfully working on that issue in other parts of the Upstate sharing insights and ideas with those interested in that specific issue within the focus county.

The Cherokee County Workshop will take place on November 14th with the focus being on Ingredients for Community Success: Moving to the Next Level.

Ken Moon, Deputy Director at Cherokee County Development Board, will set the context, highlighting successes in the county and countering negative perceptions that persist. He will then lead a panel with individuals from other communities about best practices and hard-earned experience in dealing with some of the same issues present in Cherokee County. Panelists include SC State Representative Neal Collins; Eric Vinson, City Administrator of Travelers Rest; and Stephen Taylor, Economic Development Director for Abbeville County.

The topics to be considered by the panel are the perception of education, community pride and overcoming a negative self-perception as a community, collective voice, and infrastructure, including broadband.

The Cherokee County Workshop is free and open to the public, but advance registration is requested. Dinner will be served from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m., and the program will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
