As part of the Ten at the Top Senior Issues Committee's stated goal of being intentional about addressing senior needs, this workshop will look at the issue of transportation for seniors. The inability of seniors to get where they need to go can quickly lead to poor nutrition, diminished mental and physical health, and a general isolation from their community. Increased access to transportation services can prolong a senior’s ability to reside in their home.
This workshop will feature remarks from Katy Smith, the Executive Director of Piedmont Health Foundation, followed by a moderated panel discussion that will cover a range of topics relating to this issue.
Panelists will include:
Tim Womack, Aging Services Director for Appalachian Council of Governments
Judy McCambridge, Able Care Transport LLC
Andrea Smith, Executive Director of Senior Action
Lindsey Page, Discharge Planner for AnMed Health
Moderator: Dean Hybl, Executive Director, Ten at the Top
This is the third of four workshops to be hosted over the course of 2019. The purpose is to educate and raise awareness to a variety of community stakeholders. This will create an opportunity to begin a much larger discussion of senior issues at a regional level.
