Introduction to Climbing for Students: PPE, Knots, Gear and Throwline

Course Description:

Hard hat and safety glasses required. This course is geared to students interested in the field of Arboriculture. The course will feature a mix of demonstration and hands-on activities geared to beginning tree climbing. The course will begin with an overview of Proper Protective Equipment and progress onto commonly used arborist knots. Participants will learn about climbing systems – focusing on moving rope systems (open and closed). Finally, participants will learn techniques for setting lines in a tree.

Transportation/Parking: A bus from the hotel will be provided at 1:15. Meet in the hotel lobby.

Reception: You are cordially invited to the conference reception following the tour. The reception will be from 5-6pm at the Sheraton in Framingham. Please let us know if you plan to attend when you register.
