Community Schools 101 

The community school model is a strategy for organizing programs and services to support the overall wellbeing of students and their families. Learn how to put in place effective strategies and build mutually beneficial relationships that will help your community school get off to the right start and achieve long-term success.

Participants will learn from experienced community school leaders about:

  • The community school framework and developmental stages
  • Strategies for building mutually beneficial relationships with school leaders, families, and community partners
  • Conducting a needs assessment
  • Building an advisory board
  • The role of that resource coordinators, supervisors, school leadership, and teachers each play in strong community school development
  • How to talk about and engender support for your community school

This session is specifically designed for new Resource Coordinators (<1 year experience), their agency supervisors, and school leaders and teachers interested in learning more about the community school model. 

This workshop is being offered by the Federation for Community Schools and the Community Schools Initiative at CPS. 

Breakfast will be served.  This is a FREE workshop; however, you must register by Thursday, February 5  in order to placed on the security list and gain access to the session.
