Make A Difference Day 

Missions Teams will be taking part in God's work in the world, mostly without even leaving Northwoods!

              Choose your project from the mission needs below.                 Click on the "Register Now!" button at the bottom.

PROJECTS:

#1 Assemble Meals for the World

 Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of meal packets and aid around the world.

  • Leaders: Karen & Roger Smiddy
  • Assembly of 35,000 meal packets in our Fellowship Hall,  9:00-11:30 a.m. 
  • All skill levels needed.  Ages 10+. Team limit 120.

 #2 “Stop Hunger Now”  Setup Team

An early team is needed to unload the Stop Hunger Now truck and set up equipment and food in our gym.

  • Leaders:  Karen & Roger Smiddy
  • Pre-event team to unload and set-up meal assembly 8:00-9:00 a.m. 
  • Ages 14+. Team limit 12.

#3 Habitat ReStore Project

Help Habitat for Humanity right here at Northwoods by assembling cabinets to sell at its ReStore. Proceeds from which will build a home for a family in need.

  • Leaders:  David Shupe & Tom Powers
  • Work from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • All Skill Levels Needed. Ages 16+ Team Limit 20. 

#4 Finish our Habitat House

Help put ther finishing touches on the new "dream house" for the Toxqui Family. If all is on schedule, our team will build a fence and lay sod for this family's approaching move-in. 

  • Leader:  Bob Halliday
  • Work from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • All Skill Levels Needed. Ages 14+ Team Limit 10. 

#5 Quilt for Homeless Families

Help piece and tie quilts for families who are homeless and helped by Northwest Assistance Ministries.

  • Leader: Jamie Shupe
  • Project at Northwoods. 9a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • Ages 10+ with parent. Team Limit 20.

 #6 Craft to Help Survivors

Keychains made from jenga game pieces will be created to sell in our World Crafts Store, and proceeds will help victims of human trafficking. 

Leader: Kathy Williams & Carol Douglas

  • Project at Northwoods. Should finish by 11:30 a.m.
  • $5 per participant for supplies.
  • Ages 11+. Team limit 20.

#7 Visit Our Homebound

Assemble baskets for our Northwoods homebound friends and deliver them to their homes.

  • Leaders: Priscilla Collier & Marcia Cole
  • Baskets assembled at church and then delivered to homes by noon.
  • Team Limit 40 (2-4 persons a home). Ages 8+ with parent.

 #8 Sing to Seniors

Sing with Northwoods choir members and friends to bring cheer to residents at two senior assisted living facilities.

  • Leaders: Terri Agold & Chris Randolph & Jo Benson
  • Return by noon.
  • Adults and age 6+ with parent. Team Limit 30.

 #9 Sort Clothes for NAM

Serve on our team at NAM’s Resale Store to sort and ready merchandise to put on the sales floor.  Proceeds from the store support NAM’s many assistance programs.

  • Leader:  Lisa Aytes & Jean heineman
  • Work 9:15-11:45 a.m. at NAM’s “Treasures of the Heart” Store.
  • Ages 12+ with parent.  Team limit 18.

 #10 Mission for Young Families

Families with children will work together to complete the Project Linus blankets missions project which began during VBS

  •  Leader:  Shelley Harrington
  • This project is reserved for young families.
  • Work at Northwoods in GRACE Place, 9:00-11:00 a.m.
