AFP Greater Madison Chapter Luncheon

A Short Course on Long Careers in Fundraising

Join our panel of experienced nonprofit development professionals as they discuss the words of wisdom they've received from mentors, colleagues and donors, and how those lessons have impacted their careers. These longtime AFP leaders will welcome your questions on how to achieve success in the fundraising field.

Moderator:

Meredith BarackMeredith Barack, NBC-15

Meredith Barack joined the NBC 15 News team in September 2014. Originally from Vernon Hills, IL, she looks forward to living in Madison and exploring everything the area has to offer. As the morning reporter, she is excited to bring you the latest local news as you're waking up and starting your day.

She'll be a Boilermaker in Badger Country, as she graduated from Purdue University in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication. During her time in West Lafayette, she anchored Fast Track, a weekly news program. She was also an active member of Chi Omega sorority.

During college, Meredith interned at WLFI-TV and was a production intern for Conan O'Brien's show. She also studied abroad in London, where she had the opportunity to work, live, and learn amongst the British. During her time overseas, she had the opportunity to travel to Paris, Dublin, and Amsterdam.

After college, Meredith worked as a reporter for 9 & 10 News/MI Fox 32 News, the CBS and FOX affiliates in northern Michigan. Her experiences there uncovered a desire to tell a story that could change someone's life, including her own.

While reporting on a story about a puppy mill bust, she wound up adopting one of the 170 dogs rescued. Her world now revolves around her sweet, but sassy, Shiba Inu named Gypsy. Meredith's passion for animal welfare has also grown, and she now volunteers for the Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue. In her free time, Meredith enjoys traveling, spending time with herfamily and friends, and discovering new places to eat and shop.

Panelists:

Wendy Coe Wendy Coe, CAE
Executive Director, The American College of Veterinary Pathologists

Wendy joined The Rees Group in 2005 with over 20 years in non-profit administration experience. Board and committee relations, strategic planning and problem solving are chief among her skills along with an extensive background in fund development and planned giving. She is a Certified Association Executive and formerly was a Certified Fund Raising Executive. The CAE credential tells association members, colleagues and the general public that Wendy has the knowledge and professional standards to successfully manage an association in today’s challenging climate. When working with organizations, Wendy’s goal is to help them reach their highest level of effectiveness, efficiency and customer service for the constituents they serve. Wendy has worked in many arenas – city government, higher education, health care, and a community foundation. Early in her career, Wendy worked for the Wisconsin Section of the PGA. When it was time to make a career change, she thought about how much she had enjoyed working with the Board and members of the WPGA. A chance conversation with a friend led her to The Rees Group.
