Building a Leaderful Organization: What is your piece of the puzzle?

Over the last 10 years leadership development in the nonprofit sector has been gaining increased attention. In 2006, a national research study of nonprofit executive leadership found that 75% of leaders planned to leave in 5 years. In 2011, the study was conducted again and although the pace of transition was dampened by the recession, executive turnover remains high. The need for approximately 640,000 nonprofit leaders by 2016 sparked an examination of what we as a sector are doing to building the leadership pipeline. How leaderful is your organization? Leadership development starts with you. Are you investing in yourself to be the best you can be? Leadership is a team sport, you can’t do it alone. Are you building your team’s leadership? What can you do to build leadership throughout your organization?

Session learning objectives:

  1. Explore leadership development frameworks.
  2. Examine practices and skills of effective leadership.
  3. Identify your piece of building a leaderful organization.

Audiences: nonprofit professionals, board members, funders and capacity builders who are committed to strengthening the nonprofit sector.

New in 2014! Management and Fundamentals Affinity Circles are being offered prior to the chapter meeting.
