Field Leader – Overnight Module
Economy July 23-24, 2016

The Field Leader – Overnight module will be held on July 23 and 24 on the Kenomee Canyon trail in Economy, meeting at the parking area at Economy Falls. This nationally recognized module will provide participants with Outdoor Council of Canada (OCC) training and certification in Field Leader – Overnight and qualifies participants to lead longer trips in low-risk terrain classes relevant to their activity. A pre-requisite to the course is at least one OCC Field Leader course. The module will review and deepen the event cycle and offers effective group management techniques for longer outdoor trips.  Participants are required to read a manual, and participate in an online planning meeting beforehand. The course will be delivered by Anjeanette LeMay-Crowtz, OCC certified instructor. It is offered through Hike Nova Scotia in partnership with the NS Chapter of the OCC and supported by the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage.

All of the instruction will be outdoors, including an overnight hiking trip on an 18 km hiking loop. For further information regarding Field Leader – Overnight module certification, please go to http://www.outdoorcouncil.ca.

Cancellation Policy

The Field Leader – Overnight module is subsidized for participants, so we need to fill the workshop in order to break even. As such, our cancellation policy requires three full days’ notice in order to reimburse anyone who wishes to cancel their registration (so we require notice of cancellation by email or phone by 5 pm on July 19). This allows time to recruit someone to fill the spot.

If the course organizers must cancel the course due to unforeseen circumstance, it will be cancelled the morning of the day before the course. Participants will be contacted by email and all participants will be reimbursed their registration fees. They will then be contacted regarding a new date for the course.

Please complete one registration form per person.
Note that multiple people cannot use the same email address.
Thank you.
