*** Optional Compliance Presentation ***

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Compliance After Party

Following a break for lunch on your own, Tom Seltz, LMC's compliance executive, will present an overview of Notices and Disclosures:

Notices & Disclosures Overview Part I: Delivery Requirements Overview.  This session goes through the rules and methods for delivering ERISA documents, notices and disclosures, including an in-depth discussion of the ERISA Electronic Distribution Safe Harbor.  Also touches on why COBRA Notices, HIPAA Notices and tax documents follow different rules.  While officially aimed at ERISA employers, can also be of value to non-ERISA clients as well (includes explanation why they should follow the ERISA rules anyway).

Participants of this course will be able to identify the two categories of employees (Wired at Work vs. those who require “affirmative consent”), understand the requirements for non-electronic delivery, as well as the requirements under the ERISA Electronic Delivery Safe Harbor.

Notices & Disclosures Overview Part II: ERISA Plan Documents Overview.  Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about ERISA Plan Documents but were afraid to ask, this popular, hour-long presentation provides an overview of the rules pertaining to Plan Documents, SPDs/SMMs, SBCs, and SARs and, among other things, explains why a “plan” is different from a “policy,” why most employers choose to bundle various lines of coverage under a single ERISA plan, and how the carrier-provided coverage booklets meet the insurer’s own (state) legal obligations but almost never meet employer/plan sponsor’s ERISA (federal) obligations. A lot more interesting than it sounds, we promise!

Participants of this course will be able to identify the types of plan documents discussed, understand their purpose, their content requirements and their timing requirements.

We look forward to seeing you!
