The Process to Secure a Business Loan

This workshop will cover what banks and other lending organizations look for in a loan application and the process for applying for financing. You will learn:

  • The criteria for successful loan application
  • What information should an applicant provide for the lender to consider
  • The application review process
  • Strategies for seeking a loan

Our Speakers:

Patrick Lorent, is currently Vice President and Manager of People's United Bank Government Lending department, he has twenty-five years of experience in numerous capacities of the Commercial Lending Industry including The Community Bank and FleetBoston Financial Corporation. Mr. Lorent's volunteer activities include board of director positions with Liberation Programs, Inc., the Connecticut Minority Supplier Development Council, the Hartford Economic Development Corporation and the New Britain Housing Association Board. A recipient of the Connecticut SBA 2011 Small Business Administration's Financial Services Champion of the Year Award, Mr. Lorent was formally educated at Morehouse College and University of Connecticut.

Buck Harris is Vice President of Microlending at Community Investment Corporation (CTCIC), and Adjunct Professor at the Quinnipiac School of Business. He received a BS and MBA from Quinnipiac University. Buck's work with CTCIC includes comprehensive consulting services to small businesses in order to secure and maximize the advantages of, specialized lending programs for start-up, growth, and long-term success.
