PrepareCT: Is Your Business Prepared for a Disaster? Do You Have a Disaster Recovery Plan in Place?

Please join SCORE Fairfield County and the Greenwich Library on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Greenwich Library for an informative business-critical presentation that will give business owners the ability to significantly reduce risk of loss. Presentation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm.

The Connecticut Small Business Development Center (CTSBDC), in partnership with six leading business-related organizations statewide, has created a new program, PrepareCT. PrepareCT is a straightforward, effective program for creating a business disruption and disaster recovery plan. Hurricanes, flooding, blizzards, computer failures, fire-disruptions and disasters like these can wreak havoc on a small business. According to the federal Small Business Administration (SBA), 40-60% of small businesses can't survive a disaster that forces them to shut down for more than a few days. And, as a small business, your ability to respond quickly and recover after an emergency is critical to ensure your success. This workshop will show you how to be better prepared for emergencies. Topics that will be covered are:

• Assessing your Risks as a Business
• Identifying your business' critical functions
• Evaluating and reducing your risk to suppliers
• How to handle your key data and communications
• The essentials of insurance for business disruptions
• The Emergency Services available - if needed

You will leave with a user-friendly 10 page "Business Continuity Plan" workbook - digitally accessible for interactive planning.
