Computers, Tablets & Smartphones - What Works For You?

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm | check-in starts at 5:30 pm

Darien Library

1441 Post Road, Darien, CT  06820

As the lines between technology and lifestyle blur, the choices become limitless and overwhelming. What works for you? Does your business require a computer at a desk? Are you chauffeuring kids, running errands and need to answer emails throughout the day? This workshop explores . . .

  • Email - How can "really important" emails be safeguarded?
  • Mobile computer - Can a tablet or smartphone replace a laptop?
  • Avoiding downtime - Is paid antivirus software "worth it"?
  • Software alternatives - Are there solutions besides MS Office?
  • Online research - Can free web browser add-ons improve research skills?

Speaker: Bud Freund teaches technology at Bi-Cultural Day School and provides tech support to small businesses and families looking for reasonable, cost-effective technology solutions. Mr. Freund also provides training to individuals, groups and corporations including GE, UBS and the YMCA. His curriculum covers a broad range of hardware and software skills including safe internet practices, tablets and Excel. As a capstone project, his students create their yearbook pages using PowerPoint and Photoshop. His skills set also enables him to give back to the community as a SCORE volunteer specializing in IT.
