Social Vetworking on the Road for Veterinarians:
Trauma, Triage and the first 10 minutes
Dr. Respess’ lecture will be an overview of triage and prioritizing treatment in small animal patients suffering from trauma (both blunt and penetrating). This talk will help general practitioners and technicians become more comfortable in recognizing immediate life-threatening issues associated with trauma, even when they aren’t that apparent. The importance of the physical exam and other initial diagnostics will also be discussed.
Guest Speaker: Meghan Respess, DVM, DACVECC Dr. Respess is from North Carolina where she received her Bachelors of Science from Greensboro College in 2003. She graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She then completed a small animal internship in 2010 followed by a residency in emergency and critical care in 2013 at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in North Grafton, MA. Dr. Respess's clinical interests include acute trauma, transfusion medicine, critical surgical and anesthesia patients, abdominal sepsis, cardiology and acute respiratory disease. Outside of work she enjoys the beach, camping, fishing, rock climbing and just spending time with her family.
