Worship and the Arts 2.0: Shaped by Sacred Story
Leah Robberts-Mosser returns to lead Worship and the Arts 2.0. We will use the Moses birth story as a lens through which we will look at our own lives and ministries, while asking the deep questions and listening for the still-speaking voice of God. Our time together will be shaped by sacred story, quiet and conversation, poetry and art. There is no requirement to have attended last year. All are invited to the time creativity and renewal.
Together, we will spend time with each of these characters and elements from the Moses birth story in order to better understand our own narratives:
- Shiphrah and Puah, the midwives, will beg the question: Who is helping you birth what you're called to birth in ministry and life?
- Baby Moses will prompt us to ask: What must we let go of in ministry and life in order for it to grow? If Moses’ mother had never put the baby in the basket, he would have never grown up to be the Prince of Egypt.
- The river and the basket will ask us: When you must release that which you have birthed in ministry and life? How do you tend to your own hopes and fears in letting go?
- The Nursemaid will beckon us to consider the paradoxical question: How do you nourish that which you must let go of?
Throughout the retreat, participants will learn how to apply the creative arts (storytelling, visual arts, poetry) in their own worship context. Participants will leave the retreat with materials to use in worship or retreat settings back home.
